Job Overview

The Senior Expert – Maintenance is responsible for providing strategic leadership, technical authority, and operational excellence in managing plant-wide maintenance systems to ensure equipment reliability, asset sustainability, and production continuity. The role drives preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, oversees maintenance performance optimization, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards across the mill.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Maintenance Leadership
    •    Develop and implement integrated maintenance strategies aligned with mill operational targets and corporate reliability standards.
    •    Establish long-term asset management and equipment lifecycle planning to maximize plant availability and cost efficiency.
    •    Lead reliability improvement initiatives and maintenance transformation programs.

Maintenance Operations Management
    •    Oversee execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
    •    Ensure maintenance planning, scheduling, and resource allocation are optimized to minimize downtime.
    •    Monitor and improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and operational performance.

Reliability and Continuous Improvement
    •    Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA), reliability centered maintenance (RCM), and condition-based maintenance (CBM) implementation.
    •    Identify opportunities for maintenance cost reduction while maintaining safety and performance standards.
    •    Drive digital maintenance initiatives including CMMS optimization, predictive analytics, and data-driven reliability systems.

Safety, Compliance, and Risk Management
    •    Ensure compliance with corporate HSE policies, regulatory requirements, and international maintenance standards.
    •    Promote strong safety culture within maintenance operations.
    •    Lead risk assessment and mitigation related to equipment integrity and plant reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
    •    Collaborate with production, engineering, project, and procurement teams to support plant performance and capital improvement initiatives.
    •    Provide technical advisory support during plant expansion, modification, and shutdown activities.
    •    Engage with external vendors, contractors, and technology partners for maintenance solutions.

Capability Development
    •    Mentor maintenance managers, engineers, and technical teams to strengthen competency and leadership capability.
    •    Establish maintenance best practices, standard operating procedures, and knowledge-sharing platforms across the organization.

 

Qualifications
    •    Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
    •    Minimum 15 years of maintenance experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or process industry.
    •    Extensive experience in reliability engineering and plant maintenance systems.
    •    Strong understanding of pulp & paper or continuous process manufacturing is highly preferred.
    •    Proven leadership experience managing large-scale maintenance operations.
