Job Purpose

The Turbine Expert is responsible for ensuring the reliable, efficient, and safe operation of steam and power generation turbine systems supporting pulp and paper manufacturing processes. This role focuses on turbine performance optimization, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical leadership to support continuous mill operations and energy efficiency targets.

 

Key Responsibilities
    •    Operate, monitor, and optimize steam turbine and auxiliary systems to ensure stable power and process steam supply
    •    Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for turbines, gearboxes, governors, lubrication systems, and condensers
    •    Diagnose and resolve turbine performance issues, vibration problems, and mechanical failures
    •    Conduct turbine overhauls, inspections, alignment, and commissioning activities
    •    Analyze operational data to improve efficiency, reliability, and equipment life cycle
    •    Ensure compliance with safety standards, operating procedures, and OEM recommendations
    •    Support energy efficiency initiatives and power balance optimization within the mill
    •    Provide technical guidance and mentoring to operators and maintenance teams
    •    Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and internal engineering teams during shutdowns and major works
    •    Prepare technical reports, root cause analysis (RCA), and maintenance documentation

 

Qualifications & Experience
    •    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
    •    Minimum 8–12 years of experience in turbine operation and maintenance, preferably in pulp & paper, power plant, or heavy industrial environments
    •    Strong knowledge of steam turbines, power generation systems, and auxiliary equipment
    •    Experience with vibration analysis, lubrication management, and condition monitoring systems
    •    Familiarity with OEM standards (e.g., Siemens, GE, Mitsubishi, or equivalent) is an advantage
    •    Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
    •    Willing to work in mill-based operations and support shutdown schedules
