Job Overview
The Senior Expert – Dissolving Pulp Project serves as the principal technical authority responsible for the development, implementation, and optimisation of dissolving pulp production at the Perawang mill.
This role provides expert leadership across process design, technology selection, project commissioning, and operational optimisation, ensuring the dissolving pulp project meets international standards for specialty cellulose production while achieving high efficiency, product quality, and sustainability performance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
• Provide strategic technical direction for dissolving pulp production and process integration within the mill.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate process technologies, licensors, and equipment suppliers.
Project Development
• Lead technical review of engineering design, process configuration, and equipment integration.
• Support project execution, commissioning, and start-up of dissolving pulp facilities.
Process Optimisation
• Optimise production performance including cellulose purity, yield, and viscosity stability.
• Improve chemical efficiency, energy use, and overall production cost.
Quality & Innovation
• Ensure dissolving pulp meets international specifications for viscose, lyocell, and specialty cellulose products.
• Support continuous improvement and process innovation.
Knowledge Transfer
• Provide technical mentoring to engineering and operations teams.
• Develop technical guidelines and best practices for dissolving pulp production.
Qualifications
Education
• Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Engineering, or related field.
Experience
• 15+ years in the pulp & paper industry.
• Extensive experience in dissolving pulp or specialty cellulose production.
Technical Expertise
• Prehydrolysis kraft process
• Fibreline and bleaching technology
• Specialty pulp quality control
• Large-scale pulp mill commissioning and optimisation
