Senior Expert Maintenance

Job Purpose
As a Senior Expert, Maintenance for our Serang mill, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all instrumentation and control systems within the mill. You will lead preventative and corrective maintenance efforts, troubleshoot complex issues, and support automation and control system upgrades in alignment with APP’s operational and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of field instruments (pressure, flow, level, temperature, etc.) and control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA).
• Ensure all control systems function efficiently to meet process and production requirements.
• Collaborate with production and electrical teams to resolve process control issues.
• Monitor and analyze system performance data to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
• Lead and support instrumentation/control system-related shutdown and turnaround activities.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
• Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new control systems or equipment.
• Maintain documentation such as loop diagrams, instrument data sheets, and control logic.
• Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations (ISO, safety, environmental).
• Support reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives and root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
• Liaise with vendors and contractors for service, upgrades, or technical support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Control Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems, preferably in the pulp & paper or process industries.
• Have technical knowledge of chemical/ hazardous materials handling paper maker (preferably), fire protection, turbines and power plants
• Have strong communication, interpersonal skill, good presentation skill, good leadership and teamwork
• Hold general K3 expert certificate, ISO 45001 or preferably SMK3
• Strong knowledge of DCS/PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Honeywell, Yokogawa, Allen Bradley).
• Experience with field instrumentation, control valves, analyzers, and signal conditioning.
• Familiarity with communication protocols (HART, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
• Knowledge of maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) is an advantage.
• Understanding of safety practices in hazardous industrial environments.
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID, loop diagrams, and electrical schematics.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
